2. What the Agent Does

Purpose

The MyLÚA Care Recommendation Agent helps healthcare organizations, health plans, employers, and community care teams analyze maternal client documentation and surface personalized, evidence-based care recommendations for birthing parents and perinatal populations. The Agent is designed to support care coordinators, case managers, and clinical support staff in organizing and prioritizing care needs.

How It Works

Organizations submit client documentation to the Agent. The Agent processes the submitted documentation and returns a structured six-section output for each client covering their needs, urgency level, recommended care pathway, referral routing, community resources, and a coordinator summary. The Agent also supports population-level analysis: organizations can submit data for multiple clients and receive aggregated trend insights alongside individual outputs.

Target Customers

  • Employers with maternal health benefits programs
  • Health plans and payors managing maternal or perinatal member populations
  • Community health centers and care coordination organizations
  • Doula agencies and perinatal care organizations
  • State and local public health departments (maternal and child health divisions)

IBM Ecosystem Integration

The Agent is built on IBM watsonx Orchestrate and IBM watsonx.ai, consistent with MyLÚA Health's published technical case study with IBM. The Agent is modular and designed to interoperate with IBM's watsonx Orchestrate environment and IBM's general data integration capabilities.

3. Structured Output

For every client submission, the Agent returns a consistent six-section structured output:

  1. Need Categories: Identifies and categorizes the client's primary needs across physical, emotional, social, and nutritional dimensions based on the submitted documentation.
  2. Outreach Urgency Classification: Classifies each case as Urgent, Moderate, Routine, or Educational, giving care coordinators an immediate signal for prioritization.
  3. Care Pathway Sequence: Provides a step-by-step sequence of recommended care actions mapped to the identified needs, drawn from curated evidence-based maternal health sources.
  4. Referral and Escalation Routing: Routes each case to the appropriate provider type (obstetrician, specialist, mental health, emergency care, or community support) based on urgency and need profile.
  5. Community Resources: Surfaces validated community support resources sourced in real time via 211 community resource lookup by patient location, including food, housing, transportation, and social support programs.
  6. Coordinator Summary: A concise, actionable summary for the care coordinator synthesizing the key findings, priorities, and recommended next steps for each client.
